What is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon hydrotherapy, also referred to as a colonic, is an internal bath that helps cleanse the colon of toxins, gas and accumulated fecal matter. Unlike an enema, it does not involve the retention of water, just a steady gentle flow in and out of the colon. At the same time, abdominal work is given to stimulate the colon to recover its natural shape, tone, and peristaltic wave action.
What Does a Colonic Session Involve?
We begin the session with optional inversion, followed by soothing abdominal work and lower lumbar stimulation, all of which helps your body to relax, enhancing the effectiveness and maximizing the results of the colonic. A sterilized speculum is gently inserted into the rectum and, while regulating the soothing flow of water, we assist with aromatherapy and abdominal work, helping the colon to release its contents. You will be warm and well covered, as your comfort is given top priority throughout the session.
How Many Colonics Do I Need?
The number of treatments always varies with the individual and his/her condition. Some people may not have startling results within the first few treatments. This is why a controlled series of treatments is advisable. Most clients, utilizing a combination of exercise and a properly balanced diet, will achieve maximum benefits within 6-10 sessions.
What are the Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy?
- Rids Your Body of Toxins
- Restores Natural Paristalsis and Regularity
- Increases Nutrient Absorption
- Restores Natural Intestinal Flora
- Increases Your Energy Level
- May Reduce Risk of Cancers and Other Diseases
Are There Any Side Effects?
Not in the vast majority of cases. However, while toxins which have been lying dormant in the colon are being flushed out, a small amount may be re-absorbed into the body’s system. These toxins may cause a small percentage of people to experience a brief headache, chills or nausea.
What System Do You Use?
We use a 100% Therapist-Controlled Gravity-Flow Closed System (also known as a Woods System.) This is one of the gentlest, safest and most comfortable systems in our opinion, which is why we use it!
